Learning Through Play
When preschoolers engage in “pretend play,” they develop all kinds of important skills that prepare them to enter kindergarten. We know that young children learn best through their senses.
Optimizing Development
Our early childhood program is designed to provide a stimulating learning environment that supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of every child. In this engaging environment, children learn through real-life experiences.
Our goal is to build a community of learners on the Virginia Peninsula by providing children with enriching experiences to develop self-confidence, independence and strong cognitive and social skills.
Non-Denominational Christian Education
The preschool children enjoy Chapel time once a week with the pastor. Chapel time provides a sense of community within the preschool and teaches children God’s love for them. The spiritual truths presented to the students are non-denominational. Parents are always welcome to join us for Chapel time.
History
Wythe Presbyterian Preschool started as a Hampton Mother’s Day Out program January 1978.
The first year the mothers met once a week, and the next year it was decided to add another day. As the preschool program continued, it seemed to be more in demand every year. So nearly four decades later, Wythe Presbyterian Preschool has become a five-day program with an age-appropriate, hands-on learning curriculum.
